Maanzo and Kimilu on why Kalonzo should be handed Azimio Leadership

Makueni Senator Daniel Maanzo and Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu have pointed out why Azimio One Kenya Coalition Party should hand over the leadership to Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Addressing journalists in Wote town, Makueni county, Senator Maanzo said that change in leadership for the Azimio-Oka coalition is the only option that will bear fruits in the 2027 general election.

Maanzo stated that Kalonzo is the only person who will counter President Ruto’s effect in 2027 and thus he should be declared as the Azimio-OKA leader to prepare him early for the 2027 elections.

On the other hand, MP Kimilu pointed out that Kalonzo is the only hope for the people of Kenya and thus Raila should retire and accept to support him.

“We are committed to knowing what the Azimio One Kenya coalition party is planning to do in 2027 because there is no way we should continue doing things the same from 2013 and expect different results. We ask Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to take over the leadership of Azimio-OKA because he is the only National leader with light and hope for the people of Kenya, especially in the opposition,” Maanzo said.

Kimilu added that the Wiper Party doesn’t necessarily need endorsements but they are committed to fighting to get what they want and that’s why they want Kalonzo to take over the Azimio-OKA leadership.

“We want to have a spirited fight for our party because politics requires standing and fighting to get what you want. Political seats are taken and not given and that’s why we won’t wait until we are given because when we wait to be given, it may never happen. We have already decided that Kalonzo Musyoka is the future with or without being given the Azimio leadership,” Kimilu went on.

Senator Maanzo also welcomed President Ruto’s move to create an office for the opposition saying that it will be instrumental in ensuring that the government of the day serves all Kenyans equally and in the right way.

“When a country has no strong opposition, it is the residents who suffer. We want to get prepared because the opposition will be the next government, I welcome the President’s move because it will also prepare us to get the next government, “Manzo added.

Senator Maanzo and MP Kimilu’s statements come a few days after Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua said that Raila should hand over his support base and Azimio leadership to Kalonzo Musyoka. Kiio stated that it was the fair thing to do arguing that Kalonzo had been selfless in supporting Raila in past elections.

Machakos MCAs turn blind eye on Chief Officers nomination illegalities, approve 26

0

Machakos County Assembly Friday approved the appointment of 26 nominees as Chief Officers. This is despite the process being marred by glaring illegalities and irregularities listed below;

Advertisement of 24 slots for chief officers but later appointment of 27 people. This means 3 positions were not advertised, and the shortlist from the County secretary also had 23 departments.

Secondly, The list submitted to the County Assembly for vetting is said to include people who never applied for any of the advertised positions and were never shortlisted in the respective department. For instance, Gideon Mbithi the nominee in the Department of Inspectorate and Fire Fighting was not shortlisted in the department candidates, below are those shortlisted;

Shortlisted candidates for the position of Chief officer Inspectorate and Fire Fighting

Vincent Musili the Chief officer nominee in Culture and Tourism was also not shortlisted in that department. Mutunga Anthony was also not shortlisted in the lands docket, Metho Benson was also not shortlisted in Environment Docket but in a different department, and Kanyae Bruce Isika nominee Youth Department.

Shortlisted candidates for the position of Chief officer of Culture and Tourism

The list of nominees did not meet the two-thirds gender rule, only 3 out of 27 nominees are women.

The interviews of the Chief officers were also carried out by the County Public Service Board which did not have a chairman or secretary and lacked a quorum. After the impeachment of 4 members of the board and the resignation of one member in November 2022, only two members out of 7 remained in office. A selection panel has since been constituted to recruit board members and the positions advertised.

It was expected that Machakos MCAs would point out the glaring irregularities and illegalities during approval and vetting. However, that did not happen. Bribery allegations were also present but Mauvoo News could not independently verify the said bribery of MCAs to approve the nominees.

Gazettement was also done immediately raising more questions about when it was done but it is dated 6th January.

Kalonzo’s strong warning to Ukambani Politicians defecting to UDA and Kibwana

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned Ukambani politicians defecting to the ruling UDA Party.

Kalonzo warned that UDA was going to fall just like Jubilee noting that he has seen those who have been defecting from his Wiper Party lose elections even after they issued an ultimatum to him to join UhuruRuto in 2017.

“Let them go to where they want because it is their democratic right, they have done that before, some of them tried in 2017 when Ruto and Uhuru came to Machakos, and some Kamba politicians gave me an ultimatum saying that I should join Uhuruto. They challenged me but I told Uhuru and Ruto I’m giving them those who were giving me an ultimatum, today none of them managed to get re-elected,” the Wiper leader stated.

Kalonzo also affirmed that the Wiper party emerged as a strong National party in the last General Elections and is no longer a community party as some people perceived.

Kalonzo revealed that he has been proud of the Kamba community even after undergoing threats and intimidations he has never thought of betraying the community.

“I have been called all sorts of names because of them, they have been denied important things in the Government because of me, I hope their time to be partakers of the National leadership will come,” Kalonzo added.

Reacting to former Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana’s sentiments when he pointed out that Kalonzo has been riding on the community for personal benefit, Kalonzo trashed that saying Kibwana lacks authority on anything because he was even defeated by his junior (Maanzo) in the August General Elections.

“Kibwana campaigned for Raila, now he is a political advisor or something to Ruto, oh my goodness! On what authority does he have? He was defeated soundly by Maanzo, a young man who defeated a sitting Governor because of things like that. He was one time my party chair, I wish him well in retirement,” Kalonzo stated.

He added that Kibwana wants to auction the Kamba community to the highest bidder and warned the Kamba people not to allow him to do that.

Where is Former Machakos DG Francis Maliti?

0

Former Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti was among the Gubernatorial candidates in the August 2022 elections.

Maliti had worked with the people and gained favor with them thus his gubernatorial bid gained momentum as his tenure ended.

However, just a few days before the elections, Maliti decided to step down and support Wavinya Ndeti.

His first blow was when his party leader and then boss Dr. Alfred Mutua jumped onto Kenya Kwanza ship from Azimio destabilizing Maliti and other Chap Chap candidates who had to redo their campaign branding and restructure their messaging just weeks before elections.

A few weeks earlier, his running mate Rose Wambua from Kangundo had been poached by his competitor Waita Nzioka.

This move left him crippled and had no other option but to call it a day.

For the remaining days, he went around with Wavinya declaring support for her until she clinched the seat on August 9th.

However, that was the last time he was seen in public. His last media appearance was in September during an interview at Mutongoi TV.

Since then, Maliti an Engineer by profession went underground. He told Mauvoo News that he was focusing on his businesses but failed to divulge more information.

Sources privy to Maliti say the politician has decided to keep a low profile for the time being.

“For the time being, he is not doing anything major just waiting to see if his MOU with Governor Wavinya Ndeti will be honored,” Our source close to Maliti told us on condition of anonymity.

Governor Wavinya has since appointed CECMs and COs but Maliti was not among them. The deal that saw Maliti step down and endorse Wavinya is yet to be made public.

Will he make a political comeback in 2027 or sooner? That’s a question only he can answer.

The three explained that they were rushed to the hospital after two days and another victim has not been taken for treatment.

The victims are calling for justice to be served and for the perpetrators to be prosecuted.

The area chief refused to address the media concerning the issue.
