Devolution Principal Secretary Teresia Mbaika has assured Makueni residents that she will ensure the Thwake dam project will not stall due to the case in court involving the contractor and subcontractor.
Speaking in Makueni, Mbaika noted that the project is a priority for the Kenya Kwanza government.
She asked the locals not to worry about the incomplete projects because the government won’t start new ones while others are stalled.
“One thing i will say is that the government will not embark on other projects while others are stalled. So those worrying about Thwake should know the dam is a priority to the current government and I will ensure its completion,” Mbaika said.
The PS also observed that the locals should not be worried about the water that will enter Thwake dam as the office of the deputy president is tasked with cleaning Nairobi rivers.
She also urged locals to fight climate change by planting more trees which may also turn out to be a source of income for them in the future.
Mbaika spoke during a meeting held by UDA leaders in Sultan Hamud on Friday. Former Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau asked President William Ruto to chase contractors who have failed in their work in the county.
