A middle-aged man escaped unhurt after being involved in a grisly accident along Wote-Machakos road in Makueni county. The man, who was not identified immediately is a car wash attendant at Wote town and had taken a client’s car before crashing it.
He had been tasked with cleaning the car and the client left him with the keys promising to be back after a short while. The attendant thought of going to Itangini market to pick vegetables and took the car.
In a bid to return before the client returned, the man drove at a high speed.
At Itangini market he lost control of the vehicle which swerved off the road and rolled severally.
After realizing he is not hurt and had crashed the car he took without permission, he escaped the scene of the accident and went into hiding.
The police processed the scene and launched a manhunt for the man.
By the time of reporting the man had not been arrested but the vehicle had been towed to the Makueni police station awaiting inspection.
