Shock engulfed locals at Kamanzi in Kangundo sub county of Machakos county after a 70-year 70-year-old man supposed to wed today died.
The man who was identified as Michael was supposed to wed his wife Mary today at Iiia Itune catholic church.
He however died in the bathroom where he was taking his bath in preparation for his big day.
However, after taking over half an hour in the bathroom the wife Mary went to check on him only to find him lying down unresponsive.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead while receiving medical attention. His cause of death has not been established.
The shocking thing is that the wedding went on as planned despite the sudden death of the groom as the family and friends decided to cut the cake and celebrate.
Family members explained that the turn of events was hurtful to them as they had planned well for the day.
“I was the best man for the wedding but on arriving at the church we were informed the groom had fallen in the bathroom and rushed to Kivani hospital. We rushed to the hospital and told efforts to resuscitate him were in vain,” said Patrick Musyoki.
