A man lost his life following a fatal attack by a crocodile while attempting to cross the Athi River in Mwania village, Kithayoni, Kathonzweni Sub-county – Makueni.
The incident happened on Tuesday, prompting a swift response from the local Red Cross.
However, upon reaching the scene, rescue efforts were in vain as the victim’s remains had been recovered by the vigilant locals.
Law enforcement swiftly intervened, transporting the deceased to the Makueni Referral Hospital mortuary. As of now, the identity of the victim remains undisclosed.
This tragedy has raised concerns with the locals urging KWS to take immediate action to prevent further fatalities.
Shockingly, the incident took place at a time when the community is dealing with results of a similar incident where a few weeks ago a teenager escaped a crocodile attack in the same area, sustaining injuries to his hand and leg.
The recurring danger posed by these reptiles has sparked urgent calls for enhanced wildlife management measures in the region.
