A 2-and-a-half-year-old boy is nursing injuries at Matuu level 4 hospital after being burned by his mother in Matuu town, Yatta Sub-county of Machakos County.
Confirming the incident, Matuu Town Village Administrator Hannah Mutunga said that the mother of the boy was arrested and was now in police custody.
According to the village administrator, the woman is said to have been left by her husband whom they were residing with in Nairobi and she has been beating up the boy since they relocated to Matuu Town.
“There is a lady who was from Nairobi and she came to stay here in Matuu. She boiled water to cook Ugali and she took the hands of her son and dipped them in the boiling water. We have heard from neighbors in the plot that she has been beating the boy up,” said the village administrator.
“The boy is 2½ years old and the lady who is his mother is 32. She has been arrested and taken to Matuu police station. The boy has been admitted to Matuu level 4 hospital for treatment. We are going to ask the boy what occurred. I want to ask mothers if you differ with your husband stop hating your kids” she added.
