Governor Mutula and Mwengi Mutuse clash over Rigathi’s impeachment motion

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse clashed with Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo after the governor questioned his role in moving the motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The Governor in a WhatsApp forum raised concerns on why a Kamba leader was selected to spearhead such a significant motion, even quipping, “Where are all the Kiambu noise makers?”

Mutuse in response clarified that the motion was his own and not a result of being chosen by any other party.

In his rebuttal, the first time MP firmly stated “I was not picked to present the motion. This is my motion. I worked on it conscientiously.”

He further took issue with the insinuation that Kamba leaders should refrain from taking leadership on national issues.

“What problem do you have with me or any other Kamba taking the lead on a national issue? Must we be followers always? I dare to dare. I’m not a coward,” Mutuse added.

The Kibwezi West MP also urged the governor to focus on his duties, highlighting the pressing issue of water provision, which he pointed out is a devolved function under the county government’s jurisdiction.

“Tell your bloggers that the photos they are sharing about water are ashaming you because water is devolved,” Mutuse said.

Mutuse concluded by reminding the governor that he was not elected to “undermine or supervise” other leaders, emphasizing mutual respect between elected officials.
