Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse Tuesday (1st October) tabled a motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The historic motion attracted an overwhelming support of 291 MPs drawn from all parties.
However, Despite Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka recently saying that his party would not support the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, 5 Wiper MPs defied their party leader and appended signatures in support of the motion.
The 5 include Dadaab MP Farah Maalim, Second term Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako Mwakuwona, Mwingi West MP Charles Ngusya Nguna.
Other MPs in Wiper who defied the party’s position are Mavoko MP Patrick Makau and Yatta MP Robert Basil.
During the impeachment motion tabling, Kalonzo reiterated the Wiper Party Position by sharing a statement from the Party’s Secretary General Shakila Abdalla.
“We would also want to reiterate that the Wiper democratic movement party opposes the proposed impeachment motion against the Deputy President.” The statement read.
