A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Athi River, Machakos County.
The suspect was arrested at his rented house in Embakasi Estate within Athi River Township.
According to Athi River South sub-county police commander Jos Mudavadi, the suspect had been evading arrest since allegedly committing the offense in January 2024.
Following a tip-off, authorities arrested the suspect around 11.00 pm on Saturday, three days after he returned to the house from hiding.
The minor’s mother filed the complaint at Athi River police station on January 28, 2024. The victim, a Grade 8 student at a local public school in Athi River sub-county, is the complainant’s daughter.
“The suspect will face charges in Mavoko Law Courts, Machakos County, on Monday,” Mudavadi stated.
