A paint production factory in Athi River Machakos County was razed down by an early morning fire in Athi River, Machakos.
The four go-downs were swiped down after a fire broke out at the private
company located along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
The area police commander Jos Mudavadi said the blaze reportedly broke out at around 3.00 am.
“The incident was reported at Athi River police station that a fire broke out at the paints factory at 3.00 am on Saturday,” Mudavadi said.
Mudavadi mentioned the fire reportedly started at go-down number two.
Athi River OCS accompanied by his team alongside their DCI counterparts visited the scene.
The OCS said several water boozers from within Athi River supplied water to assist in fighting the inferno.
Several properties rescued from a go-down that was partially consumed by fire included paints and chemicals for making the paints.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene to save the firm were from the Kenya Air Force, General Service Unit, Mavoko and Machakos sub-counties, and personnel emergency services including ambulances and Kenya Red Cross Society.
