The body of an 18-year-old girl who was a form four student at Sengani Girls High School has been retrieved from a dam in the Tala Kithimani area of Matungulu sub-county.
Confirming the incident, Nguluni location Chief Serah Mutua said that they got reports from residents about a body that had been spotted in a dam and she rushed with the security team to the scene.
According to the parents of the deceased, she had left home to say hi to friends on Friday but she did not come back only for her body to be found in a dam 100 metres from their homestead.
“At around noon we got a report that there was a body that was floating at Tala Kithimani area. Upon arrival at the scene, we called the police. We found that the body was of a girl aged 18 years,” said Chief Serah.
“She was a student at Sengani Girls High School and the parents told us that she had left home on Friday and she did not come back. Today while the grandfather was herding he found the body at the dam which is 100 metres from the area,” she added.
Chief Serah went ahead to call on parents to be having talks with their students to avoid such scenarios.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kangundo level 4 mortuary awaiting postmortem.
