The Body of a 16-year-old boy was retrieved from a dam in Sengani village of Matungulu Sub-county, Machakos County.
Confirming the incident Tala Location Chief Francis Mulinge said that boy was swimming at Kwa Savano dam when he drowned.
Mulinge said that the boy was swimming with others and while swimming he did not manage to come out.
“We got a report about a 16-year-old boy who had drowned at Kwa Savano Dam and we have gone to the scene together with the police to know what had transpired. We have learned that the boy was swimming with others when the accident occurred, we have divers on site and they have helped in retrieving the body” said Chief Mulinge.
The chief went on to call on parents to look after their children, especially during the holidays to ensure that such accidents do not occur.
“Parents take care of your children. Schools have been closed and we need to look after our children. These accidents can be prevented if we take care of our children,” he advised.
The Body of the deceased was moved to Kangundo Level 4 Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
