New twist as MP Mbai endorses Malombe’s 2027 bid

Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has thrown his weight behind Governor Julius Malombe’s possible bid for re-election in 2027 if the law allows.

 The UDA MP noted that Malombe’s impressive track record in development is the reason why leaders from the constituency will support him.

Speaking in his constituency, Mbai emphasized Malombe’s tangible achievements compared to former Governor Charity Ngilu’s tenure.

“We as Kitui East people have decided that if Malombe is allowed to vie again we will support him because we have seen his work in the few years since the election. Even the MCAs in this region have high chances of reelection,” Mbai said.

“The last five years I had a hard time working for my people because the governor was not cooperative but everything is different now,” he added.

His sentiments were supported by several MCAs from the constituency who asked experts and professionals to come out and explain to Kenyans if Malombe’s bid is valid.

Malombe had expressed interest in vying again but worries were that he may not be allowed to. This is because Malombe served as the first governor and was ousted in 2017 before being reflected again in 2022.

Former Governor Charity Ngilu has also come out to express interest in the seat in the 2027 general elections. Missed the story? check it out below;
