Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai says he won’t allow destructive Azimio demos in Ukambani and promised to counter them.
Speaking on Sunday, Mbai said the opposition has proven that they cannot organize peaceful demos without theft and destruction of public property and should not be allowed to hold further protests.
“We won’t keep quiet and watch while people’s lives are being taken, we won’t watch while property worth a lot of money is being destroyed because of the destructive demos organized by Azimio,” said Mbai.
“The presidents’s work is to ensure every life is protected but anything happening in Ukambani concerns me big time, I will not watch as my people end up dead because a certain leader has been given money to ferry youths from Nairobi to hold protests and destroy property, that is why I am saying that we won’t accept any demos in Ukambani,” he added.
According to Mbai former President Uhuru Kenyatta has been funding the demos in a bid to frustrate the current government.
The legislator spoke of a plan to counter this week’s protests in a bid to protect the lives and property of the people.
He urged the Kamba community to avoid joining the protests called by the opposition leaders and maintain peace instead.
