Former Machakos Senator and UDA Chairman Johnson Muthama publicly declared that he will run for Machakos gubernatorial seat in the next year’s general election.

Speaking at a funeral in Matungulu sub-county, Muthama said that many people were uncertain whether he is vying for the seat or not. He clarified that this time he was going to campaign for the seat like never before.

“I hear you are saying I have never declared publicly that I will vie for Governor of Machakos come 2022. I want to declare today that I will vie for the seat and I will campaign like never before,” he said.

Muthama added that he was not after the seat for his own benefit rather he wanted to ensure that he works for the people of Machakos.

“I will not vie so that I buy cars, I will not do anything with the county resources rather I will ensure that I work and you see progress. I want you who come from Matungulu west ward and all other places in the county to write issues that you would like to addressed and I will act on them, “He added.

Other Candidates who have so far expressed interest in the Machakos gubernatorial race include Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti, Deputy Governor Francis Maliti, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau among others.

Chief of staff office of the president Nzioka Waita this week also unveiled billboards and a 6 point agenda for the Machakos gubernatorial campaigns.
