Popular Kamba gospel artist Stephen Kasolo Kitole has shared a touching story of helping a former fellow inmate secure his release from Kitengela prison.
This act of generosity unfolded after Kasolo’s own release, stemming from a cyberbullying incident involving gospel singer Stella Mengele. Through his YouTube channel, Kasolo detailed how he repaid an act of kindness shown to him during his eight-day detention with the assistance of his fans and friends.
During his time in Kitengela prison, Kasolo encountered a young man named Israel. Israel extended unexpected compassion towards the gospel artist. Kasolo recounted how Israel offered him his mattress to sleep on, while he slept on the floor. Furthermore, Israel encouraged him when refused to eat, assuring him that things would eventually improve.
Upon his release, Kasolo felt a strong sense of obligation to repay Israel’s earlier kindness. He remembered the support Israel offered him during a particularly difficult period. Living up to his promise, Kasolo recently announced that Israel’s 50,000 Kenyan Shilling cash bail had been secured. This was made possible through contributions from his friends and fans, after Kasolo explained Israel’s situation and need.
“Israel is out… This young man welcomed me into prison and offered me his mattress while he slept on the floor. When I refused food he encouraged me a lot and told me it would be okay. When I was released from Kitengela prison, I told him there would be a day when I would repay kindness with kindness!! Today I posted his 50K cash bill which I was helped by friends and fans after explaining the situation in Israel,” Kasolo said.
Kasolo emphasized the profound impact of kindness. “Kindness is a treasure and kindness is a treasure. Israel has been saved and he was preaching a lot in prison now see what God has done,” Kasolo added.
Israel expressed deep gratitude for the help he received. He thanked Kasolo and all those who offered their support, acknowledging the significance of their actions.
“Thank you very much for the help and support you’ve offered me. May God bless you and be with you every step of the way. Today you’ve done something for me that not many people would have. I now believe things happen for a reason. I believe my brother Kasolo was not thrown in jail because he was guilty but because he had a purpose to serve, and that was overseeing my freedom. Not even my family has done for me what Kasolo, a man of God has done for me, and for that, I’ll be forever grateful. I’m also grateful to the fans and friends of Kasolo who chipped in financially to make this a reality,” Israel said.
Following Israel’s release, Kasolo inquired about his willingness to work. Israel confirmed that he was ready to seek employment. He also shared his transformation, stating that he had become a born-again Christian after navigating a dark phase in his life. Israel also spoke of the strong friendships he formed while incarcerated, noting that many of his fellow inmates became emotional during his farewell. This story serves as a powerful reminder of the unexpected connections forged in challenging circumstances and the enduring impact of human kindness.
