Mwangangi: Why i turned down Ruto’s offer to be Defence CS

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has claimed that he turned down an offer to serve as Cabinet Secretary for Defence in President William Ruto’s government a position currently held by Soipan Tuya.

Speaking during an interview at a local radio station, Mwangangi claimed that the position was offered to him three times but he declined each time due to his misalignment with Kenya Kwanza’s policies.

“I even discussed this matter with my boss, Governor Wavinya Ndeti. The position was offered to me on three separate occasions, but I chose to turn it down,” Mwangangi said.

The deputy governor elaborated on his decision, stating that he does not support the policies of President Ruto’s administration, which he believes are detrimental to the country’s progress.

“98 percent of their policies are designed to bring this country down,” he asserted.

Drawing inspiration from historical figures, Mwangangi referenced South Africa’s Nelson Mandela, emphasizing the importance of making decisions that prioritize the greater good over personal gains.

“Sometimes, you have to look at the bigger picture. Don’t rush into temporary opportunities that may harm the country. Instead, focus on long-term strategies that can propel the nation towards sustainable development,” he noted.

Mwangangi’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his stance while others question the claims.
