New twist as Kitui South demands Wiper majority leader in Kitui County Assembly

A section of youths from Kitui South have called upon Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the Party leadership to appoint someone from the area as the majority leader in Kitui County Assembly.

The youths demanded that Cyrus Musyoka popularly known as Sonko who was elected on Wiper party ticket be given the slot because most of the top positions have gone to the Mwingi region and Kitui region leaving Kitui South behind.

Speaking in Mutomo town led by Ben Munyao who is Secretary General of Young Wiper Democrats, the youths said that there is no leader from Kitui South who has gotten a top county position and that’s why the majority leader seat should come from the constituency.

“Kitui County is a three-legged stool with Mwingi, Kitui Central, and Kitui South, that’s why we are advocating for regional balance because Mwingi has a Woman representative, Deputy Governor, Speaker, and Nominated MCAs. Kitui Central has Governor, Senator, and Deputy Speaker whereas in Kitui south we never got even any nominated MCA,” Munyao stated.

The youth leaders lamented that the Wiper party seems to have neglected them and that’s why they feel that giving the majority seat to Cyrus will be a big win for the Kitui South people.

“I request Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governor Malombe, and the Wiper fraternity to consider us because it will bring regional balance to our county. Sonko had the highest number of votes more than any other elected MCA in Kitui. He is the only elected MCA under Wiper Party in Kitui South and we feel that he is suitable for that position,” Patrick Safari who was vying for Mutomo Ward seat on a Wiper ticket said.

They pointed out that Cyrus Musyoka is a competent, intelligent, and diehard supporter of the Wiper Party and should be given chance to serve the county Assembly of Kitui in that capacity. The battle for the Majority Leader slot is between Harrison Maluki who is the MCA of Migwani Ward in Mwingi West and Cyrus Musyoka of Ikanga in Kitui South constituency
