Mercy Mawia’s father counsel to grieving son-in-law

In a heartfelt and emotional moment, David Musyoka, the father of the late Mercy Mawia, made a poignant appeal to his son-in-law, James Mwangi, urging him to find solace and strength in the face of their shared tragedy.

The advice was given during the burial ceremony held at Mercy’s home in Ol-jororok, Nyandarua County, where family and friends gathered to bid farewell to the beloved journalist.

“James, you must accept that Mercy is no longer with us,” Pastor Musyoka began, his voice heavy with emotion.

“Only then can you begin the journey towards healing. I know the road ahead will be difficult, but you must adjust to life without her. You shared so much—living, laughing, and dreaming together. But now, you must find a way to move forward. Life goes on, and God will guide you through this.” David went on.

James Mwangi, clearly moved, shared his own reflections, revealing that he never imagined losing his wife when she went to the hospital. “Everything seemed to be going well,” he said, his voice trembling with sorrow.

The community mourned the loss of Mercy, a dedicated journalist, who tragically passed away on July 23rd after a surgical procedure. Adding to the heartbreak, Mercy was five months pregnant at the time, and she and her unborn daughter were laid to rest together.

As the sun set over the serene hills of Ol-jororok, the gathered mourners shared memories and shed tears, united in their grief and in their celebration of Mercy’s life and legacy.

The air was filled with a sense of collective hope that James, with the support of family and faith, would find the strength to move forward, carrying Mercy’s memory with him always.
