Machakos Wiper MCAs defy Kalonzo, vow to carry on with Speaker impeachment

A section of Machakos MCAs from the Wiper party have defied Kalonzo Musyoka and vowed to continue impeaching Speaker Anne Kiusya.

Speaking at the County Assembly on Monday, the MCAs led by Deputy Speaker Stephen Mwanthi and Majority Leader Nicholas Nzioka said they should be left to do their work without external interference.

The MCAs decried the poor condition of their ward offices, claiming the County Assembly returned to Treasury 250 million at the end of the last financial year which had not been utilised.

“Look at this gate, it for sure doesn’t represent people who are called Honorable. One side of the gate also doesn’t open. The new chambers construction has stalled, and yet you hear we are returning money to the treasury. We have reached the end, we must clean our house.” Deputy Speaker Stephen Mwanthi said.

And to our Governor, This time round, Your Excellency, don’t meddle in this, let us do our job. When we finish, we will have good systems and plans; otherwise, we will get lost. Those MCAs who spoke last week are now in Malindi and have a return ticket for tomorrow.” He added.

The MCAs asked Machakos county MPs to keep off County politics and concentrate on overseeing President William Ruto at the National Assembly.

“We are the Machakos MCAs, and Governor Wavinya is in office. We want to tell Stephen Mule to go oversight President William Ruto. From now onwards, we ask the speaker not to set foot here we don’t need her. You are incompetent we can’t tolerate you anymore.” Another MCA added.

Matuu MCA Julius Mbili Ndawa asked the Speaker to resign, as when her impeachment motion is tabled and she is discussed, it will dent her reputation permanently.

“The motion mover is Nicholas Nzioka, the leader of the majority Party. I can look at you in the face and tell you we have numbers. If she was not fearing the numbers, why didn’t she rush to court? that tells you we have the numbers.” Majority leader Nicholas Nzioka said.

Last week, Matungulu MP Stephen Mule revealed that Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka had ordered Wiper MCAs not to proceed with the impeachment of the Speaker. He warned the MCAs if they proceed then there would be consequences for disobeying the party leader.
