Faith Kalondu Musembi a 19-year-old MKU student who was found dead in her Thika rented house 2 weeks ago was finally laid to rest at their Kisekini home, Machakos.
The send-off was attended by her family, friends, and classmates as well as elected leaders led by Kathiani MCA Dominic Ndambuki, Machakos Women Representative Joyce Kamene, and Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi among others.
Tears flowed freely with screams renting the air as mourners viewed her body at Machakos Funeral Home Wednesday morning.
Faith’s mother Mukulu broke into screams as she took a photo with her husband Boniface next to the casket. As the Eulogy was being read she got emotional and had to be supported as the pain of losing her firstborn daughter dawned.
Calls for justice dominated from the speakers who spoke at the burial calling on the government to fast-track investigations to accord the family closure.
“These incidents are not common, however as parents, we need to have close conversations with our children but even with all that, we can’t stop from asking for answers. The government has tried as the key suspect was arrested. Nothing can be done to replace Faith but the family deserves justice.” Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi said.
“Incidents like this have escalated to greater heights, every month we are hearing of such. Men must have a conversation about these acts.” Machakos Women Rep Kamene Kasimbi said.
Mutituni Johanna MCA emphasized that despite being in a relationship murder is not justified calling for justice to be done and action taken as nobody had the right to end the life of another person.
Faith’s mother collapsed at the grave site and was carried up as the father was supported while watching the casket of his daughter being lowered. Faith’s younger brother Obama could not hide his tears as well.
Faith met her death 2 weeks ago after abductors reached out to her parents demanding ransom which was sent. The father went to Thika to report but the police downplayed it until he broke into the daughter’s house only to find the lifeless body of her daughter. One suspect is in custody over the death.
