Police in Thika, Kiambu County are on the spot for failing to act in time after being notified of the abduction of 19-year-old MKU student Faith Musembi.
The distraught Father Boniface Musembi while addressing the press on Friday said on Wednesday they received a call from people using Faith’s phone who were demanding a ransom of 20,000.
Musembi’s wife sent the money to the abductors as he headed to Thika. Musembi claimed that the police at Thika Police Station downplayed their report dismissing it as a trick by her friends or her boyfriend. He then proceeded to the University to seek help in finding the daughter.
“The police told us that this was a trick game by students. I asked them how it is a game and I know the welfare of my child, they told me sometimes life changes.” Faith’s father narrated.
Her lifeless body was discovered by her father in her rented room at Pilot Estate in Hospital Ward in Thika on Thursday morning. He enquired from a nearby Mama Mboga who told him Faith had bought vegetables the previous day.
He went again to the Thika DCI office who also downplayed this as a trick by students on parents or relatives when they want to get money. He decided to go back to her room where he broke in only to be met by the unexpected – the lifeless body of the daughter.
“When we got to her room, we broke in as it was closed. We were met with the lifeless body of my daughter and according to my assessment, she was murdered. ” Boniface Musembi Faith’s father narrated as he tried to control his tears.
According to a postmotern report of the body, Faith who is said to have been expectant had bleeding at the uterus which the family says was caused by the detaching of the placenta. Police have since commenced investigations.
