Nicholas Nzioka, Leader of Majority and MCA for Machakos Central Ward Wednesday filed a notice of motion seeking to remove Anne Kiusya as Speaker.
Some of the grounds for the impeachment include; gross violations of the Constitution and other laws, incompetence, and gross misconduct.
“Honorable Speaker, Pursuant to section 11 of the County Governments Act 2012 and standing order 58, I wish to give notice of motion that this house resolves to remove Hon. Anne Kiusya from the office of the speaker of the County Assembly of Machakos on the grounds of gross violation of the constitution and other laws, incompetence, and gross misconduct.” The impeachment motion read in part.
33 MCAs have signed in support of the motion, mostly from the Wiper Party.
The notice of motion now opens the door for a critical decision that could lead to a shift in the leadership of the Assembly. As the motion moves forward, it will be up to the Assembly members to decide whether the Speaker should remain in office.
