Yumbya impressed by Machakos men accompanying wives to labor wards

Dr. Daniel Yumbya, Machakos Health County Executive Committee Member, has expressed delight at the increasing number of men accompanying their partners to childbirth.

Speaking during a visit to Machakos Level 5 Hospital, Dr. Yumbya commended the men for their emotional support, noting its significant positive impact on the birthing experience.

“It is heartening to see men providing emotional support during such a critical time. Their presence is invaluable to the mothers,” Dr. Yumbya said.

He also warned against the dangers of home births, urging women to deliver in hospitals to avoid complications.

“Giving birth at home can lead to preventable complications. I urge women to come to the hospital for safer deliveries,” he emphasized.

The visit coincided with the hospital receiving donations of maternal packs from the Mpesa Foundation and Zuri Packs.

Dr. Yumbya also praised Zuri Health for their initiative to register the elderly for NHIF and cover their one-year payment, highlighting the importance of such support in improving healthcare access.

“We appreciate the generous contributions from Mpesa Foundation and Zuri Health. These initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of our community,” he added.
