Machakos Health CECM Dr. Daniel Yumbya led a crackdown on chemists within Kangundo town.
Some chemists are alleged to partner with Kangundo level 4 hospital to offer patients services that can still be offered within the hospital.
“We have inspected and confirmed our patients are directed to some chemist within Kangundo town, to buy medicine and do laboratory tests.” Said Yumbya
The health CECM further mentioned that people operating chemists should be qualified.
Yumbya also warned food handlers within Kangundo town to have health certificates. The certificates will help to curb the transmission of communicable diseases.
“We have arrested twenty-one people who are operating in hotels and butcheries without health certificates” he added.
Yumbya disclosed doctors who are collaborating with the chemists in Kangundo town will be punished.
