The Department of Health and Emergency Services in Machakos County is on the spot again over the state of Kangundo level 4 hospital.
Addressing the press, the patients and their caregivers who were at the hospital and had been admitted claimed that they had gone for days without food claims which we could not independently verify.
“We sometimes go without food while in the ward. We request the governor to come incognito and see how we are suffering here in the hospital,” said one of the patients.
They went ahead and lamented how they were being sent to buy gloves and medicine outside as the attendants in the hospital claimed that there were no supplies.
“Right now, I am coming from buying gloves and this is the second time I am going to buy them because you bring them and you are told this is not the quality that we want and you are forced to go back, some of the medicines we are forced to buy from outside the facility let the governor come and see how we are being handled like we are animals,” another patient said.
Some of the patients were astonished when power got lost for an hour after the power generator in the hospital went off due to a fuel shortage which caused the hospital to be in the dark for one whole hour.
Last week Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and Health CECM Dr.Daniel Yumbya gave a press briefing at Machakos Level 5 Hospital where the governor said that all hospitals were in good condition and the patients were being treated well.
Efforts to reach the management of the hospital bore no fruit as no one was picking up calls.
