Johnson Muthama speaks after being left out of Ruto’s appointments

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party chairman Johnson Muthama has spoken on why he missed out on the list of appointments made by president Ruto despite being one of Ruto’s confidants.

Speaking during a TV interview, Muthama said that everyone wanted a position in the government because it’s a government for all the people regardless of who they voted for and with the few slots available only some people would be accommodated in the positions

“We are 50 million Kenyans and putting into consideration that those who voted for Kenya Kwanza were 50%+1 of the valid votes cast meaning that 49% didn’t vote for President Ruto. Assuming those who supported Ruto wanted to get the CS positions this means that we would have more than 7.2 million positions. Some of us work for others to benefit and we love this country so much. We don’t mind the contribution they make or how it will be paid, and I’m one of them,” the former Machakos UDA gubernatorial candidate said.

Muthama pointed out that he never demanded to be given any seat in the Kenya Kwanza government but he will continue being in the leadership of the Kenya Kwanza as he has always been at the front in uniting all the Kenyans.

Muthama had earlier claimed that President Ruto offered to give him a position to be the Interior Cabinet Secretary and he declined. He revealed that he decided to focus on Machakos’s gubernatorial seat which he came third after being defeated by Governor Wavinya and Nzioka Waita who came second.

However, Muthama said that he is optimistic that he will get a position in the government to serve in another position apart from the Cabinet Secretary and Principal Secretary positions.

“If I was given a position to serve the people, it depends on which position but now I don’t want to speak blindly but I’m getting something very soon in the Kenya Kwanza government,” he added.
