Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka Musau alias Kawaya has thanked President Ruto for giving him the Energy committee chair in National Assembly. A joyful Kawaya who got the position last week promised goodies to the people of Mwala and Lower Eastern.

The Legislator also thanked President Ruto for giving the region positions in National Government despite not getting much support in the August polls.

“Even if we did not give him many votes, he saw it right to give us a lot of positions for CSs – Mutua, Malonzo, PS’s Terry Mbaika, Mueke who we have worked closely with them. We have no reason not to thank our president and serve our people.” The MP said.

“It is like a miracle today, for someone like me who is very thin, I’m in charge of Electricity in the entire country. I cannot be the head and my people fail to get power. I feel so good. We will have plans to enjoy ourselves with power so that people know in Machakos there is only one UDA MP and he is Kawaya. Even the priest gets the biggest sacrament. I want to thank the president for honoring me with the task to lead the committee.” Kawaya added.

The MP also thanked the Hindu council which has been running school feeding programs in several schools in Mwala and Kenya red cross saying they had helped to ease the situation. He proposed a long-lasting solution so as not to rely on relief food.

“So far I’m generating electricity in the river, the first project is 80 percent complete and I want to use it to pump water from the river to people’s farms so that people can use it to do small-scale irrigations… There is legislation on mini-grids, and we want to make regulations for mini-hydros to empower more to make free power for communities. The one near completion will be commissioned by the president when it’s ready.”The MP went on.

On the pollution of Athi River, the MP said, “I’m happy we have a good governor, Wavinya who is like a mother to me. Find Sakaja we talk about the river, when I’m starting my projects here I don’t want any pollution, we will start suing companies that pollute AthiRiver. We cannot have a route pumping water and other people polluting the river.”

The MP spoke during the flagging off of relief food in Yathui, Mwala constituency. The exercise was led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Governor Wavinya among other stakeholders.

You’re not doing Ukambani any Favor – Senator Kiio takes on Ruto

Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua has cautioned the Kamba community against being deceived that President Ruto is doing a favor by bringing relief food to Ukambani.

Speaking during the burial of Senator Daniel Maanzo’s mother Miriam Maanzo in Yekanga, Makueni, Senator Kiio said that those who are calling Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to join President Ruto was a way of finishing Kalonzo and the Kamba community. He called upon Ruto to bring food and development to the Kamba community because he is the President of Kenya but he should not think that he is doing a favor to the community.

“We want to tell Ruto the truth because we have no issue with him serving the people of Kenya, continue building the country if you will make it. In fact here in Makueni there is a problem of hunger so bring a lot of food here. We want seeds so that our people can plant because the rain has started but when you’re bringing just know that it is not a favor you’re doing to the people of Ukambani, you’re giving them support by right,” Senator Kiio told President Ruto.

The vocal senator pointed out that every Kenyan is entitled to get services from the government regardless of the political camp they supported or the people they voted for.

He added that it is the duty of every government that gets into office to ensure that all the Kenyans are okay without looking at their political affiliations and feeling like you’re doing them a favor.

Senator Kiio revealed that Kalonzo will be on the ballot in 2027 vying for the presidential seat to unseat President Ruto and so he (Ruto) should not bother with Kalonzo.

“Help us Mr. President because you have to do so but the issue of Kalonzo forget about it and let’s meet in 2027 at the ballot when Kalonzo will be a presidential candidate, you will also be a presidential candidate and Kenyans will decide who they want to lead them,” he added.

This comes after President Ruto during a thanksgiving mass in Kitui 2 weeks ago revealed that he tried reaching out to Kalonzo to join the government after the elections. Still, he refused saying that he wanted to remain in the opposition. Missed the story? check it out below;

We Shall Not Pass NG-CDF Amendments in the senate – Senator Kiio warns MPs

Kitui senator Enoch Kiio Wambua has threatened that the senate will not pass the NG-CDF Amendments being fronted by Matungulu MP Stephen Mule to anchor the kitty in the law.

Speaking at a function in Makueni, Senator Kiio noted that even though the CDF had helped a lot in many communities in the country the manner in which the amendments were drafted was wanting.

“There is no way you are going to sit in isolation, that one we have refused. We shall have to come up with a group to agree on the percentage of allocations in the oversight fund of the senate, CDF, and Ward Development Fund,” The Senator said.

“I can assure you, my brother, if that bill is brought to Senate in the manner you have drafted we shall refuse it and ensure it fails early in the morning,” he added.

The senator further noted that the National Assembly refused to pass the Ward Development Fund which had been passed by the senate in 2020.

“I want to say that the Ward Development Fund was first moved by the senate in 2020, we passed the bill but in the National Assembly, you refused to pass it,” Kiio revealed.

“Now the shoe is on the other side, you are telling MCAs that you shall give them Ward Development Fund, and that is okay. I love the ruling of the speaker that there is nothing that counties cannot do,” he added.

In the proposal to amend Article 95 of the Constitution, co-sponsored by Matungulu MP Stephen Mule and Robert Gichimu Gichugu MP, the NG-CDF, the amendments seek to have National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), the Senate Oversight Fund, and the Economic Stimulus and Empowerment Fund in the constitution. The amendments also seek to have CDF allocation double to 5 percent of the budget from 2.5 percent.

Benga artist “Vuusya Ungu” explains the origin of the name

0

Popular Kamba Benga Artist Dominic Muasya Mbithi popularly known as “Vuusya Ungu” has shade light on where the name “Vuusya Ungu” came from.

Vuusya Ungu revealed that the name came while he was playing in a band and they used to share rooms.

The Kamba benga artist said that because of the nature of the rooms they used to sleep in, he preferred sleeping under the bed and people would say do not touch under the bed there is someone sleeping there.

“There is a time I used to play for a band called Kwa Mutemba and we were 17 boys. So we used to sleep in two rooms and because we were many I used to sleep under the bed,” he narrated.

“So the band members would say while we are sleeping that no one should touch under the bed thus the name “vuusya ungu”. People tend to think it is a bad name but that it is how it came to be,” The singer went on.

He further talked about how he did some meager jobs before he started playing for bands which later saw him start his own band which is now known as Ndalani Boys Band.

“Before all this, I used to do various jobs like construction site work in hotels, and then I started playing for bands. I played for various bands before I started mine, and I would like to urge our fans to always show up for shows and ensure that they support us fully. Without the support of our fans, it is not easy to make it.” Vuusya ungu pleaded.

Mutula takes on Muthama for asking him to be barred from distributing relief food

Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has responded to UDA chairman Johnson Muthama’s remarks that he should not be allowed to distribute relief food in Makueni unless he joins UDA.

Muthama wanted Mutula Jnr to be barred from distributing relief food given by the national government unless he joins the UDA party. He also demanded that those who were supporting the UDA party in Makueni should be the ones to help in distributing the relief food because they supported President Ruto.

Speaking in Yekanga, Makueni during the burial of Miriam Maanzo who was Senator Maanzo’s mother, Mutula Junior replied that he will continue to distribute the food to his people in conjunction with the National government led by Makueni County commissioner.

“I saw someone saying that I should not give relief food to my people before I join UDA but I wondered if he is still in his senses because I left when he was of sound mind. This morning through my office together with the county commissioner we distributed food to 115 schools in Makueni which included maize and beans,” Governor Mutula Jnr responded.

The second governor of Makueni also said that there is more relief food that will be coming to Makueni from the national government because hunger has ravaged the people of Makueni. Mutula Jnr revealed that he was called by the Second lady Dorcas Rigathi who told him to ensure that the relief food gets to the schools in Makueni.

“Whoever wants to go and report that I distributed the relief food they should do that in advance. I will make sure the food set aside for our people and also the seeds which we have allocated money for in the supplementary budget get to the people because we have good plans. If you plant your crops the national cereals and produce board is waiting for you to harvest so that they can buy from you and get money,” he added.

Muthama had vowed to raise the issue of food distribution with President Ruto. Missed Muthama’s speech? check it out below;

Wachana na Dynasties, Kuja kwa Serikali – Sonko tells Kalonzo to his face

Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has asked Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to part ways with “dynasties” and join hands with President William Ruto in order to become Kenya’s next president.

According to Sonko, President Ruto had beaten the “dynasties” and they would never recover hence Kalonzo has a chance to become president by Working with Ruto.

“Kalonzo you are a leader who is recognized worldwide. When I was going through a lot from the handshake government, were it not for you, Senator Kiio, Senator Maanzo, and Governor Mutula, you would have buried me long ago. Kalonzo was the first to come and rescue me when I was under attack. I respect him a lot. You will never hear me insult him.”Sonko said.

“Sometimes it is good to talk, a lot of our Ukambani leaders are afraid of talking. Kalonzo should have been president. We tried going to Mombasa with Kalonzo and other leaders. We had challenges but we spoke with one voice and told Raila if Kalonzo is not his deputy he would lose. He lost.” Sonko added.

He thanked Kalonzo for standing with him despite being asked by Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, and president Uhuru then to step down for Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.

“I said No and fought like a man, a time came and I weighed options and saw our party leader was being played. Honorable Ruto called me so that we could work together to help Kenyans and I agreed and we won. I would like to tell my uncle Kalonzo to leave dynasties. You can become the next president, any leader from here who vies for president before Kalonzo will be cursed. The dynasties have received a technical knockout. In Kenya kwanza, we don’t know who will be the next president, when you are close there you will be.”Sonko concluded.

On a rejoinder, Kalonzo asked Sonko to inform Ruto to get out of the way and cautioned him against calling some Kenyans dynasties.

“We want to unite the nation. We will work together as an opposition, a loyal opposition and I have no problem with Ruto, he is my younger brother.” Kalonzo added.

The leaders spoke in Makueni during the burial of Senator Maanzo’s mother Miriam Munini Maanzo.
