Renowned blogger Pat Safari joins politics, vies for Mutomo MCA on Wiper party ticket

Renowned blogger and ex-Jailer Patrick Safari has declared his interest to unseat Mutomo/Kibwea MCA David Masaku on a Wiper party ticket.

Safari, a Former jailer has been building a campaign war chest to bring change to his people he says. In a tete a tete with Mauvoo news the 34-year-old politician from Kiviu, Mutomo expressed confidence in clinching the seat.

Safari who doubles up as a human rights activist said his activism in his youth days pushed him to join politics. He noted that he has plans in place to ensure that he brings to actualization the development and leadership that his people dream of.

According to him, there are a lot of stinging issues that have not been addressed to date since the inception of devolution, especially in Kitui county. These issues include lack of clean water, poor roads, and lack of drugs in hospitals among other things.

“I joined politics to bring a change, Watu wetu wamedanganywa ya kutosha na ni Wakati ya kuwakomboa. My vision is to see a better Mutomo/kibwea ward where opportunities will be available for everyone,” he said.

His dream is not to be an MCA only but to pursue other bigger seats like the MP and Governor’s seat after he clinches the MCA seat.

He expressed his dissatisfaction with Governor Ngilu’s administration stating that Ngilu and the MCAs have messed up the county. ‘The executive and county assembly have been fighting thus failing to serve Mwananchi as required.’ He noted.

“The future we have always been told about is today. It is our time… We must come out and build this nation for the next generation,” Patrick Safari challenged his fellow youths.

The Mombasa polytechnic alumni disclosed that he left his job after serving for 11 years reason being poor working conditions.
His activism and blogging have had both positive and negative outcomes he revealed. For once he helped push for salary increments and better working conditions for the police.

Three times, he has been arrested and charged in court for tweeting about security issues in the country among other offenses.
He called on the people of Mutomo/Kibwea to believe in his leadership and experience real change. Safari has been holding strategy meetings and attending various events and rallies in order to market his bid.
