A fatal accident involving Alpha bus occurred Sunday between Kasteni and Nguni on Garissa- Nairobi highway. The bus was heading to Nairobi from Garissa where it overturned after hitting a Toyota Prado.
According to one of the eye witness, the bus was speeding before it hit the Prado then overturning, the people near the scene of the accident rushed to help the injured. One woman was confirmed dead while several were critically injured. The bus had 44 passengers when the accident occurred.
“I rushed to the scene to rescue the injured and I can confirm that one woman was dead and about 10 people were seriously injured where some of the legs and hands were broken. The people responded well and came to rescue and take those seriously injured to Mwingi for treatment.” The eyewitness narrated.
“The place is a blackspot since we have witnessed several accidents there since the road is very narrow but drivers are always overspeeding as if there is no tomorrow.” He added.
The county government of Kitui has also been put on the spot for not having available Ambulance services to quickly respond to the accident. . Alpha bus company confirmed the accident and stated that they will be issuing a statement on the same.
