Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has launched a fierce attack on Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti following her public admission that she keeps KSh 2 million in cash at her residence.
Speaking during a public address in his constituency, Makau accused the governor of mismanaging and embezzling public funds, raising concerns over transparency and financial accountability in the county.
“Si mumeona kwa national television na ma radio, si mtu alisimama akasema yeye anaekanga millioni mbili kwa nyumba yake kila siku,” Makau said, referencing a recent interview by the governor. “Governor, mtu asemangi ako na pesa kwa nyumba – utamalizwa,” he added, warning of potential security and legal repercussions.
The outspoken MP, who has often branded himself as a watchdog of county operations, further alleged that revenue collected from quarries and businesses in Mlolongo was being siphoned and directed to Wavinya’s Kinanie residence — claims that could not be independently verified.
“Ile pesa yote inatokanga pale kwa kwaree na pale Mlolongo, zote zinaendanga pale Kinanie. Hizo millioni mbili ni hizo zinaendaga hapo,” he said.
Governor Wavinya, in an interview last week, had stated that she keeps Sh2 million in cash at home to assist people who visit her with various needs, a remark that has now sparked political backlash.
Makau’s remarks add fuel to the ongoing political tension in Machakos, as questions swirl around fiscal governance and personal handling of public finances.
