Two watchmen in Kangundo Subcounty were killed Wednesday morning while on their way back home from work.
Confirming the incident Kangundo Police Commander Edward Kipsang Changach said one of the watchmen was killed at Kivaani market and the other one was hacked with a sharp object at Katanga Market.
Changach noted the two murder incidents were carried out by the same gang as they waylaid the two watchmen from different areas and murdered them saying that the reason behind the murders was unknown.
“This morning within Kangundo subcounty we have woken up and found out that we had two murder incidents one occurred at Kivaani market. It was a watchman who was going home and waylaid by an unknown gang and murdered with a sharp object,” the sub-county commander said.
“Early morning at around 5am the same gang at Katanga Market waylaid another watchman who was from duty and they hacked him with a very sharp object and he died on the spot. We have launched investigations to establish motive of the murder,” he added.
He further appealed to the public to assist in the investigations by sharing information about the culprits who murdered the watchmen.
“My appeal is to the public if you have any information on who may have orchestrated this murders kindly share with the police to aid in the investigations,” said Changach.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to Kangundo Level 4 Mortuary for preservation.
