Residents of Kangundo have been warned against vandalizing projects that are meant to help them in the community as well as being used by politicians to vandalize other politician’s projects.
Speaking at Mbondoni area in Kangundo Central Ward of Machakos county, Dickson Maundu a Kangundo Central MCA Aspirant said that it was saddening to see projects being vandalized by people with an ill motive.
Maundu spoke this after visiting a site where a water pipe had been vandalized by unknown people with the aim of stopping the flow of water that was aimed at benefiting the community.
“We have visited Mbondoni area today to see the problems facing the community. The sad thing is that we had connected water for the residents to use from Mbondoni borehole but the water could not reach the designated areas,” he said.
A resident who comes from the area called on residents to desist from being used politically to vandalize projects, especially during this electioneering period.
“Let us not be used by politicians to vandalize projects, this project was to empower us and benefit but if you vandalize it what will happen in the future when we will be needing water,” one of the locals said.
Dickson is seeking to unseat Kangundo Central MCA Moses Mitaa in this coming election.
“We have found that the cause of this problem has been brought by vandals who cut water pipes making the flow of the water to other areas impossible, all we can ask residents is to take care of the things in their areas,” he added.
