Tom Daktari breaks silence on his 2027 Kathiani MP bid

Comedian Tom Wambua Mboya, famously known as Tom Daktari, has recently opened up about the ongoing rumors of his potential entry into politics in the 2027 elections.

Known for his humorous skits and witty commentary, Tom has amassed a significant following in his hometown of Kathiani and beyond, becoming a voice that resonates with many on social and cultural issues.

Born and raised in Kathiani sub-county, Tom Daktari is a household name, with his comedy tackling everything from everyday struggles to societal issues with a relatable twist.

His humorous yet insightful content has won the hearts of many in Kathiani, so much so that a growing number of his fans and residents are calling on him to contest the parliamentary seat in the next general elections.

Yet, while the comedian is humbled by the overwhelming support and “pressure” from his community, he remains steadfast in his decision to steer clear of the political arena.

“It’s an honor to know that people see leadership qualities in me,” Tom said, adding, “But politics is a calling, just like comedy is for me. I believe we are all born to fulfill specific roles, and mine isn’t in Parliament.”

Expressing his gratitude, Tom made it clear that his contributions to society can continue to thrive outside the political sphere.

“People of Kathiani, you will forgive me. I know this is disappointing to some, but I won’t be able to vie despite this issue giving many of you sleepless nights. I can be a leader in other ways that don’t involve politics,” he joked, softening his refusal with his signature humor.

For now, Kathiani’s current MP, Robert Mbui, is wrapping up his third term in office. Known for his strong leadership, Mbui has expressed interest in running for a fourth term, potentially keeping his well-established place in the community.
