Stop being Wavinya’s PA – Kawaya lectures Mwangangi

Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka alias Kawaya, has called on Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi to seek a more active and substantive role in the county government.

Speaking at Mbiuni during the launch of new security lights, Kawaya emphasized the need for Mwangangi to request a portfolio that reflects the constitutional nature of his office, rather than functioning as a mere personal assistant to the governor.

“The deputy governor’s position is a constitutional office. Mwangangi should be given a proper portfolio instead of becoming a PA to the governor,” Kawaya asserted.

He argued that a well-defined role for the deputy governor would better serve the residents of Machakos by ensuring more effective governance. “Having a portfolio will give you independence that is why we are pushing for Ward Development Funds for the MCAs so that they too can be independent,”

In addition to advocating for a more substantial role for Mwangangi, Kawaya criticized the deputy governor for his frequent, unprovoked attacks on Machakos MPs.

Kawaya urged Mwangangi to abandon this confrontational approach and instead focus on collaborative efforts to advance the county’s development agenda.

“I heard him criticize Caleb and me, I have no issue his attacks on me don’t affect me in any way. I believe there is a lot of work that still needs to be done. On our side, we are doing our work,” Kawaya remarked.

Kawaya highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation among county leaders to fulfill their commitments to the people of Machakos. “The deputy governor should focus on helping his boss deliver to the people of Machakos rather than engaging in constant bickering,” he added.
