A class 7 pupil from Ngiini Primary School in Kathiani sub-county, Machakos county has committed suicide after having differences with his brother.
Mathunya sublocation Assistant Chief David Ngunzu said that the boy had been sick and he told his mother but his brother kept pressuring him to go to school only for his body to be found hanging on a mango tree.
“The boy’s home is at Ndithini village, yesterday he didn’t go to school and today too. He told his mother he is unwell but the boy’s brother kept pestering him,” Assistnat Chief David Ngunzu said.
“The mother warned the brother to stop disturbing the boy stating that he’ll go to school the following day. Sadly his body was later discovered hanging from a mango tree,” he added.
The assistant chief called on parents to listen to their children when they have problems to avoid such cases. The body has been moved to Machakos level 5 mortuary awaiting burial.
