Hours after Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka held a press conference flagged by Azimio MPs to question Ruto’s administration on several issues, a section of Ruto allies took on Kalonzo over his remarks.
Nandi senator Kiprotich Arap Cherargei accused the Wiper party leader of dying his hair and said the mess Kalonzo talked about was created by his political friends.
“If Kalonzo Musyoka was not busy dying his hair black he would know that handing over power is a constitutional duty. He should stop lecturing H.E Ruto on how to run govt & allow H.E Ruto to transform the country which has an ailing economy created by Musyoka friends.” Cherargei in a Tweet said.
Cherargei’s tweet resulted in a backlash, especially from Azimio supporters, and here are some of their reactions.
Dorothy Anyango said, “Blah blah blah blah blah… You are too much!! What Kalonzo does with his hair is none of your business ama unamutaka?.. What Ruto does in this country as our president is our business by extension Kalonzo’s!!”
Enock Muyonga said, “What exactly do you want? One minute you are telling Azimio leaders to take up their seats in the opposition and when they do you attack them. Senator Cheragei, you can’t be Government and opposition at the same time.”
Josure Kyalo said, “Power is transient you may wake up and find yourself in the same place, play it cool when their turn comes don’t cry.
Chris Masitta added, “Kalonzo did not fail Bar exams mara ishirini before becoming an Advocate… The head you need to be examining is yours not Kalonzo’s hairs.”
Azim added, “Physical shaming of one person should be avoided by all means. A mirror will do you good, Senator.”
Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot in a different Tweet said, ” It’s really refreshing to see Kalonzo Musyoka take up his opposition leader role seriously. While at it though, basic political etiquette dictates that he mellows his criticism knowing full well that we are first clearing the mess left by his sponsor and their terrible appetite.”
His comment was also met with criticism and below are some of the reactions.
James jakendu said, “Was hon @skmusyoka in government? You’re in charge now, stop with the excuses, fold your shirt sleeves, and get to work… Oh, the current president was the principal assistant to the immediate former head of state, he was pretty much part of the ‘mess’.”
Chemu Tunya said,” Shame on you…..you were in parliament and you passed the budget, increased debt ceiling, increased tax on petroleum products…You enabled uhuru to get us to this mess….spare us the hypocrisy!”
Ole Leisanka added, ” Give us more time! Useless. You guys thought running a country is like a Chief Baraza..”
Kalonzo Musyoka took on the new administration over a number of issues including the appointment of Cabinet secretaries with criminal charges who we asked Azimio MPs to reject, increasing cost of living, and fuel products which he asked the president to address. The wiper party leader also called for reforms in IEBC so as to guarantee free and fair elections and the judiciary to be reformed as well. On the speech given by President Ruto as he opened parliament, Kalonzo said it failed to address pertinent issues. He also asked President Ruto to respect former president Uhuru at least for a peaceful handing over of power.
