Muthama expresses disappointment over state of UDA Party

Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairman Johnstone Muthama has expressed his concerns about the current state of the party.

Muthama, who led the UDA alongside Veronica Maina until 2022, has called out the new leadership of Cecily Mbarire and Cleophas Malala over what seems like power struggles in the party.

Muthama emphasized that he and Veronica Maina left the UDA as a “vibrant and peaceful party,” expressing hope that their successors would continue to foster a culture of cohesion and respect.

He stressed the importance of maintaining a united front under the leadership of the party leader.

“What is happening in UDA? Veronica Maina and I left a vibrant and peaceful party in the hands of Cecily Mbarire and Cleophas Malala. As party stalwarts, we expected everyone to adhere to the peaceful and cohesive leadership of our Party Leader. Please let us avoid engaging in activities that could harm our party,” Muthama stated.

The ruling party is currently experiencing power struggles after a faction led by Joe Khalende who claims to be the founding member of the party yesterday declared himself the new Secretary General.

Khalende who accused Malala of abandoning his duties, was today morning attacked and injured by goons at the party headquarters.

The current UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire addressing the media today has announced the party will hold a NEC meeting on Friday to resolve the matter.

Last month, Muthama hinted at quitting UDA saying that Ukambani had been sidelined in the current administration. He said that he was ready to meet other leaders from the community and chat a part of unity. Missed the story? check it out below;
