Matungulu: Over 200 locals with disabilities get mobility equipment

Over 200 locals living with disabilities have a reason to smile after receiving mobility equipment from an NGO, Hope Mobility in conjunction with Matungulu MP Stephen Mule.

The beneficiaries expressed their happiness after getting wheelchairs, walking sticks, and crutches on Monday.

Jack Muthui, the NGO’s CEO said that the donations aimed to enhance independence among people living with a disability in the sub-county.

He noted that soon they will reach out to more people in the county in conjunction with the county government.

Rhoda Mueni a beneficiary urged the National Government to ensure offices dealing with people living with disability are brought to the grassroots.

According to her, the offices are situated in far areas, and accessing them is an uphill task for someone with a disability.

“Some of us do not benefit from government projects because we are not able to access the offices which are located far away. It would be great and relief to PLWDs if we could have an office looking into our issues nearby,” Rhoda said.

Tala ward Member of County Assembly Jackson Ndaka said the aid was actualized because of cooperation between leaders.
