Kangundo: 1000 vulnerable households get relief food from NGO

More than 1,000 vulnerable households from the Kangundo sub-county of Machakos county have benefitted from relief food from Caring Hearts and Hearts of Hope NGO.

Moses Mitaa who spoke on behalf of the organization said that they had noted many families were struggling to put food on the table.

He urged other organizations and well-wishers to also lend a hand to other struggling families.

He noted that the main cause of hunger and starvation among families is that many people sell their farm produce immediately after harvesting.

“Today we have given over 1000 people with 4kg maize which will help them because some are going through hard economic times. I would like to urge them as the rains are falling let them plant and when they harvest they should desist from selling the produce and later be left without anything,” Mitaa said.

“We would like to ask other people to chip in and put a smile on the faces of these people most of whom are elderly and the disabled. We would also like to urge the beneficiaries to resist any urge to sell the maize for whatever reason.” He added.

The locals who flocked to the venue expressed appreciation stating that the food would help a lot as things were hard.
