Learners in Over 60 Primary schools in Kangundo have something to smile about after receiving food donations from Caring Hearts and Hands Of Hope Organisation.
The program was being coordinated by Former Kangundo Central MCA Moses Mitaa under the patronage of Dr. Vincent Kituku. It aimed at ensuring children remained in school especially now that most schools are preparing for KCPE and Grade Six exams.
Mitaa addressing the press revealed that each school got a bag of Maize and 30kg of beans from the Caring Hearts Organisation. He called on more well-wishers to come up and support schools during these hard times.
“Through Dr.Vincent Kituku of Caring Hearts today we have been able to give food to our primary schools. I am grateful for Dr. Kituku and for him seeing it good to help our children stay in school,” said Mitaa.
“My prayer is that I get more people to join hands with me as we support our children in schools. The rains have delayed and we need to have something to sustain our children as they also prepare for exams,” he added.
His words were echoed by several head teachers who were delighted by the initiative saying that it was going to be of great help in schools.
“In my school, we have been going through a lot because of hunger, kids attendance in school has dropped so much because of lack of food,” said one of the head teachers.
“Through this am sure even my colleagues can attest that the attendance will improve and we shall have something for the kids to look forward to,” he added.
