Matungulu MP takes on IG Koome over corpses hiring claims

Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has told off Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome over his remarks that Azimio hired dead bodies during protests so as to paint police in a bad light.

Speaking at Matungulu Girls High School, Mule called on Koome to share the names of the people whose bodies were hired as well as the morgues they were taken from and the people who hired them to give evidence to his theory.

He went ahead to say that it was absurd and reckless of the inspector of the police to come out in public and lie to them openly.

“You went public indicating that when Kenyans demonstrated peacefully some of the leaders went to hire corpses from mortuaries, you are in charge of a very huge docket called police, I want to demand today that you give us the names of the corpses, and the mortuaries where the dead where picked,” said Mule.

“We are going to remind you that you have a duty to protect Kenyans not kill Kenyans. We passed the 2010 constitution to allow this country to be democratic, give us the names we deal with those behind it,” he added.

The Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome claimed that they had intelligence of leaders compromising mortuary attendants to hire dead bodies and claim that the police killed them.

Koome’s remarks resulted in mixed reactions with Mortuary attendants also asking him to show them the hired bodies.
