Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has been thrown into mourning after losing her dear Mother Philomena Mueni, who has been ailing for some time.
The news of the demise was made public by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who on his Facebook page posted, “My heart is with Matungulu MP Hon. Stephen Mule’s family this evening following the passing on of his beloved mother Philomena Mueni Mule. You’ve said goodbye to an incredible mother, wife to the late Pius Mule, friend, and community leader.”
In 2023, in a rare display of unity, Ukambani MPs visited Mama Philomena at her Matungulu home to wish her a quick recovery.

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti said, “I have received the heartbreaking news of Philomena Mueni Mule’s passing on this evening. My heart goes out to Matungulu Member of Parliament Hon. Stephen Mutinda Mule and his family as they mourn their Matriarch. May God grant you sufficient grace and courage to celebrate the life and times you shared throughout her life.”
Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi said, “It’s with great sadness that I have learned of the passing on of Mwaitu Philomena Mueni, Beloved mother to Matungulu Constituency Member of Parliament Hon.Stephen Mutinda Mule.Accept my sincere condolences mheshimiwa and may the Lord grant you and entire family strength to remain strong during this moment.May mum’s soul rest in peace.”
Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka said, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing on of Philomena Mueni, mother to Hon. Stephen Mule, MP Matungulu Constituency. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Losing a parent is one of life’s greatest sorrows, and I can only imagine the pain you’re going through. Know that you are in my thoughts, and I am here for you as you navigate through this profound loss.”
Yatta MP Robert Basil said, “It’s with heartfelt sorrow that I have received sad news of the passing on of Madam Philomena Mueni, great Mother to my colleague Hon Stephen Mutinda Mule, MP Matungulu Constituency. The late Philomena was a very industrious lady who was a devoted Christian and loved by many in society.”
