Makueni: Man arrested for killing his father over beans

A middle-aged man in Makueni County is currently in police custody for murdering his father. According to witnesses, the accused, Simon Mutie, allegedly assaulted his father, Nashon Mutie, during a confrontation regarding the sale of beans that belonged to the elder Mutie.

Mukaa Sub-county Police Commander, Barnabas Ng’eno, confirmed Simon Mutie’s arrest in connection with his father’s demise. Investigators are focusing their inquiries on Nzaini village in Kitaingo, situated within Mukaa Sub County.

“The suspect lived with his father. He has however been stealing from the old man. The theft of the beans in question led to a confrontation.” A resident of the area recounted.

Further details suggest that Simon Mutie stole the beans and sold them. The confrontation escalated into a physical fight, resulting in the fatal injury of Nashon Mutie, whose lifeless body was discovered lying in his own pool of blood within the compound.

The suspect was apprehended and taken to Salama police station as investigations progressed. Meanwhile, Nashon Mutie’s body was transferred to Kilungu Hospital morgue.
