Kitui Governor Julius Malombe launched 86.4 million pro-poor bursary programme to support needy learners.
Speaking during the launch at county headquarters, the Governor said the 86.4 million will be disbursed among 11,795 students across the 40 wards.
“We have a mandate to ensure every child gets the necessary support to complete certain academic levels. The programme comes in handy to bridge this gap.” Governor Malombe said.
Malombe highlighted the fee support programme is designed to improve access, retention and support transition rates within learning institutions.
” This Year’s fee support has seen the vocational training centres trainee’s support increased from Ksh 5000 to Ksh10,000 per learner,” Malombe added.
The Governor called upon different stakeholders to continue supporting the education sector as a way of creating a bright future for children within Kitui County.
