A 23-year-old man who killed his ex-girlfriend at Masii in Mwala sub-county of Machakos county was on Monday arraigned before Machakos law courts.
The accused identified as Patrick Mwangi was caught on camera stabbing Eunice Syokau aged 26 at a supermarket in Masii town on the 22nd of July this year.
Mwangi appeared before Principal Magistrate Charles Ondieki.
According to the CCTV cameras at the supermarket, the lady was picking things from the shelves while arguing with the guy.
After a heated argument, he took out a sharp object from his pocket and stabbed her in the chest.
Mwangi then imbibed a substance suspected to be poison where he was rushed to Masii level 3 Hospital and later to Machakos Level 5 hospital where he was treated and discharged.
He was locked up while Eunice Syokau succumbed to the injuries.
The judge ordered the suspect to undergo a mental checkup. The case will be mentioned on 4th September 2023.
