Police in Matungulu have launched investigations following the murder of a watchman in Tala.
Confirming the incident, Matungulu Subcounty Police Commander Peter Omondi said that the watchman was killed by unknown assailants while guarding a supermarket in Tala.
The sub-county Police boss said that the watchman was hit on the head and the thugs broke into the supermarket and tampered with CCTV before stealing money and goods of unknown value.
“An unknown number of people attacked a watchman in FastMatt supermarket in Tala, hit him on the head and dug into one of the walls in the supermarket, and tampered with the CCTV wires. They then broke the door and ransacked the cash deposit box and took away money that we are still yet to know how much it was,” said the OCPD.
“They took several other items that are not known, for now the supermarket is doing an inventory check to establish what was stolen. We have some leads that we are following on,” he added.
The Body of the deceased has been taken to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital mortuary.
In December, a watchman was killed in Nguluni by armed robbers who stole church equipment at Redeemed Gospel Church. Police launched investigations and arrested the suspects.
