Machakos residents were left in shock after a dramatic turn of events saw a woman attacked by a swarm of bees, allegedly sent by a local witch doctor for stealing a laptop.
According to witnesses, the woman had reportedly stolen a laptop from a traveller who had answered nature’s call. In an attempt to recover the stolen device, the owner is said to have sought the help of a witchdoctor.
Shortly after, a swarm of bees descended upon the suspect, clinging to her body and forcing her to return the stolen laptop.
“Mimi nilikuwa nasafiri naenda Mombasa,wakati nimeenda kujisaidia nikapata bagi yangu imeibiwa,” The Laptop owner narrated.
The elated man could not hide his joy as he claimed the gadget held important documents including work contracts and permits.
“Ile kitu nilikuwa nataka ni laptop yangu na nimeipata. Niko na kampuni ya procurement iko Mombasa, laptop ilikua imebeba vitu zangu zote,” The man had added.
Videos circulating on various online platforms, including TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, show the terrified and helpless woman, covered in bees, being paraded in the streets of Machakos while holding the alleged stolen laptop in her arms as onlookers watched in disbelief.
The incident has sparked debate on social media, with some praising traditional justice methods while others calling for legal interventions.
Local authorities have yet to comment on the bizarre occurrence, but residents hint such incidents are not uncommon when theft cases are taken to witch doctors.
“Hii ni mambo ya kawaida” an onlooker could be heard saying.
