Last week students from Matungulu Girls in Machakos county visited the National Assembly in Nairobi receiving a warm welcome from the honorable members and recognition from the Speaker Moses Wetangula.
The students had gone to learn about the roles of the National Assembly courtesy of Matungulu MP Stephen Mule after their great performance in last year’s KCSE.
Later they visited the Senate being hosted by Machakos senator Agnes Kavindu.
In a video uploaded on YouTube, the students got a chance to take a word of advice from Machakos senator Agnes Kavindu.
Kavindu is heard advising the girls on how to make it in education and life in general. She told them to focus on their studies and avoid engaging in premarital sex.
She told them to know the world is developing thus many opportunities for those who have gone to school.
“There is time for everything, be ready to study until the world recognizes who you are. I am glad that women are getting their space in leadership that means you can be anything you wish to be,” said Kavindu.
“Also don’t let boys fool you because after your studies you will have time for all these things you are warning yourself to do. You will do them until you’re tired but now is the time to study. If I can reverse my years there are things I would do differently, the whole world would know my existence although I’m a force to reckon with in the whole country, “she added.
