Kitui Youth Caucus, a forum that brings together leaders drawn from various wards from Kitui County who are supporting Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja have called upon Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support the ODM leader ahead of the August general elections.
The youth led by Katunda King’ang’i held a consultative meeting to discuss the strategies to put in place as a youth to popularize Azimio la Umoja in Ukambani and ensure that the people of Kitui are in the next government.
The leaders called upon the residents of Kitui especially the youth to support Raila Odinga just the way Governor Ngilu has been encouraging them.
“I would like to request Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support Raila because our parents have been voting for you without getting tired for more than 30 years, we have been voting for you too and we never got tired of supporting you so please don’t tell us that you have become tired of supporting Raila.” Katunda said.
“We know who will form the next government and that’s why we are not talking about which position Kalonzo or Ngilu will get, we are talking about what the Kamba community will get from the government; the number of roads we will get, the number of dams we will get because there is the national budget which has a lot of money compared to the county government budget,” Katunda added.
They also called upon the youth to turn up in large numbers to register as voters to ensure they vote for the best leaders.
We can’t make it to make the government without the support of other tribes and so we can’t benefit when we are alone that’s why we are calling Kalonzo to team up with Raila,” Felix Kyamata said.
The caucus also mentioned that the leaders who are pushing Kalonzo to vie for the presidency are only after their selfish gains to get their seats and make Kalonzo a party leader.
“A Party leader has no treasury or budget in Kenya. That’s why we want to get him out of that, a party leader can’t even drill a borehole thus we need Kalonzo in Azimio,” Francis Kombulu added.
